Newry Trials

Lee Rowing Club had a very successful weekend in Newry. Saturday was the turn of the indoor Ergometer trail where Eddie, John, Barry and Daniel posted New Personal Best's. Kevin had a personal best of the season but after recent illness was not on top form. The pressure of the event played a part in Brian and Sam missing the cut of by the smallest of margins, it’s not the last we will see from these two hardworking athletes.

Sunday was the turn on the water work where the athletes rowed over a distance of 5km starting with the fastest from Saturday’s erg test. Conditions were a slightly challenging with headwind holding the athletes back as they made their way down the course. The results from Sunday’s time trial showed that the training over the last few months has been working well; all five athletes were within the top 30 Junior men in the country. Ranking following provisional results is as follows.

4th John Mitchel

10th Barry Crowley

22nd Kevin Synnott

24th Eddie Beechinor

29th Daniel Buckley

Well done to all and we look forward to upping our performances over the coming months to build a strong junior men’s squad in time for coming regattas and further National Trials. Full Results attached.
